Generate a shareable PDF of your trip itinerary with all your places, routes, and details.

Last updated: 12 April 2026

Once your trip is planned, Trovvana can generate a polished PDF itinerary that you can share with your travel group, print out, or save to your phone for offline access. The PDF captures all of the important details from your trip in a clean, easy-to-read format.

How to export a PDF

  1. Open the trip you want to export.
  2. In the sidebar, click the Export PDF button. You will find it near the top of the sidebar alongside other trip actions.
  3. Trovvana generates the PDF. This usually takes a few seconds depending on the size of your itinerary.
  4. Once the PDF is ready, your browser will prompt you to download the file.

The exported file is a standard PDF that can be opened in any PDF reader, on any device.

What the PDF includes

The PDF itinerary is designed to give you everything you need at a glance, organized the same way your trip appears in the app.

Trip header

The first section includes your trip title, description, and the start and end dates. This makes it easy to identify which trip the document belongs to, especially if you export multiple itineraries.

Places organized by day

The main body of the PDF lists your places grouped by day, in the same order they appear in the sidebar. Each day section includes a heading with the day number and date.

For each place, the PDF shows:

  • Place name. The name of the restaurant, hotel, attraction, or other stop.
  • Category. The type of place (Food, Activity, Accommodation, Transport, etc.), matching the color-coded categories from the app.
  • Cost. The estimated cost you entered, if any.
  • Notes. Any notes you added to the place, such as opening hours, booking references, or tips.
  • Address or location details. When available, the address or coordinates of the place.

Cost summary

The PDF includes a cost summary showing the total estimated cost for the entire trip. If you have been diligent about entering costs for each place, this gives your travel group a clear picture of the expected budget.

Unassigned places

If you have places that are not assigned to a specific day, they appear in a separate section at the end of the PDF. This is useful for wish-list items or backup options that you want to keep on hand during the trip.

Sharing the PDF

The PDF is a standalone file. Anyone you send it to can open and read it without a Trovvana account. This makes it ideal for sharing with:

  • Family members who are joining the trip but are not using Trovvana.
  • Travel companions who want a printed copy for the flight or road trip.
  • Friends or followers who ask for your travel recommendations.

You can share the PDF by email, messaging apps, cloud storage links, or any other method you normally use to share files.

Downloading and saving

After the PDF is generated, it downloads directly to your device. The file name typically includes your trip title and dates for easy identification.

We recommend saving a copy to your phone or tablet before you travel. Since the PDF works offline, you will have your full itinerary available even when you are in areas with limited internet access, such as on a flight or in a remote destination.

Tips for a great PDF export

  • Fill in costs. The cost summary is one of the most useful parts of the exported PDF. Even rough estimates help your travel group understand the budget.
  • Add notes to places. Details like “book in advance” or “closed on Mondays” are especially valuable when you are referencing the PDF on the go.
  • Finalize the day order. Since the PDF reflects the visit order from your sidebar, make sure you have arranged each day’s places in the sequence you actually plan to visit them.
  • Export after major changes. If you make significant updates to your trip, generate a fresh PDF so everyone has the latest version.

The PDF export turns your Trovvana trip plan into a portable, shareable document that keeps your whole family on the same page, whether they are tech-savvy or prefer good old-fashioned paper.
