Learn how to create, edit, and delete trips in Trovvana. Manage multiple trips and switch between them.

Last updated: 12 April 2026

Trovvana lets you plan as many trips as you need, whether you are mapping out a single family vacation or juggling several upcoming getaways at once. This article covers how to create, edit, delete, and switch between trips.

Creating a new trip

To create a trip, click the New trip button. You will need to provide a few details:

  • Title. A name for your trip, such as “Tokyo with the kids” or “Thanksgiving at Grandma’s.”
  • Description (optional). A short note to remind you what the trip is about. This could mention who is coming, the purpose of the trip, or any other context.
  • Start date. The first day of your trip.
  • End date. The last day of your trip.

The start and end dates determine how many day slots appear in the sidebar. For example, a trip from April 1 to April 7 gives you seven days to assign places to.

After you click Create, the trip opens in the map view and you can start adding places right away.

Editing trip details

Plans change, and Trovvana makes it easy to update your trip after you have created it. To edit a trip:

  1. Open the trip you want to modify.
  2. Click the Edit trip button (the pencil icon near the trip title in the sidebar).
  3. Update the title, description, start date, or end date as needed.
  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

If you extend or shorten the trip dates, the available day numbers in the sidebar adjust automatically. Places assigned to days that no longer exist (for example, Day 8 on a trip you shortened to 7 days) will move to the Unassigned section so nothing is lost.

Deleting a trip

If you no longer need a trip, you can delete it:

  1. Open the trip or go to the trips list page.
  2. Click the Delete option (usually found in the trip menu or edit panel).
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Deleting a trip removes it and all of its places permanently. This action cannot be undone, so make sure you have exported a PDF or saved any information you need before deleting.

Switching between trips

When you have multiple trips in your account, you can switch between them in two ways.

Trip dropdown in the sidebar

While viewing any trip, click the trip name or the dropdown arrow at the top of the sidebar. A list of your trips appears, and you can select a different one to open it. The map and sidebar update immediately to show the places for the selected trip.

Trips list page

Click My trips in the navigation or sidebar to go to the trips list page. This page shows all of your trips with their titles, dates, and a brief summary. Click on any trip to open it in the map view.

The trips list page is also where you will find the New trip button if you want to create another trip without opening an existing one first.

Tips for managing multiple trips

  • Name trips clearly. When you have several trips, descriptive titles like “Spring break in Orlando” are easier to find than generic names like “Trip 2.”
  • Use descriptions. A short description helps you remember the context of a trip months later, especially if you plan trips well in advance.
  • Archive finished trips. After a trip is over, you can keep it in your account as a reference for future travel to the same destination, or delete it to keep your list tidy.
  • Export before deleting. If you are cleaning up old trips, export a PDF first. That way you have a permanent record of your itinerary even after the trip is removed from your account.

With these tools you can keep all of your family travel plans organized in one place, whether you are planning one trip or a whole year of adventures.
