Last updated: 12 April 2026
Getting started with Trovvana takes just a few minutes. This guide walks you through signing up, creating a trip, and adding your first places to the map.
Step 1: Create your account
Visit trovvana.com and click Sign up. Enter your email address and choose a password. You will be signed in immediately and taken to the main app.
If you already have an account, click Log in instead and enter your credentials.
Step 2: Create a new trip
Once you are signed in, click the New trip button. You will be asked to fill in a few details:
- Title. Give your trip a name, such as “Summer in Barcelona” or “Easter road trip.”
- Description (optional). Add a short note about the trip. This could be the reason for traveling, who is coming along, or anything else you want to remember.
- Start date and End date. Set the dates for your trip. These dates determine how many days appear in the sidebar and help Trovvana organize your itinerary.
Click Create and your trip is ready. The map will load centered on a default view, ready for you to start adding places.
Step 3: Add your first place
There are two ways to add a place to your trip.
Option A: Click the map
Click anywhere on the map to drop a pin. A form will appear where you can enter the place name, choose a category (such as Food, Activity, or Accommodation), assign it to a day, and add optional details like cost and notes. Click Save and the place appears on the map with a color-coded marker.
Option B: Paste a Google Maps URL
If you have already been researching on Google Maps, copy the URL for a place (either the full URL or a shortened maps.app.goo.gl link) and paste it into the Location field (which has the placeholder “Paste a Google Maps link”). Trovvana will automatically pull in the place name, location, and other available details. You can then assign it to a day and adjust the category before saving.
This is especially handy when you have a list of bookmarked restaurants or attractions from a Google Maps list and want to bring them into your itinerary quickly.
Step 4: Assign the place to a day
When you create or edit a place, you will see a Day field. Set this to the day number you want to visit that place. For example, if your trip runs from June 10 to June 15 and you want to visit the Sagrada Familia on June 12, assign it to Day 3.
Places without a day assigned appear in an “Unassigned” section at the top of the sidebar. You can always assign or reassign days later as your plans evolve.
Step 5: View your itinerary on the map
As you add places, the map updates in real time. Each marker is color-coded by category so you can quickly distinguish restaurants from hotels from activities. Use the day filter in the sidebar to focus the map on a single day, which is useful once you have added several days of activities.
Route lines connect your places in visit order within each day, with directional arrows showing the flow of travel. This helps you see whether your day involves a lot of crisscrossing or follows a sensible geographic path.
What to do next
Once you have a few places on the map, try these features:
- Drag and drop places in the sidebar to reorder them within a day.
- Add costs to each place to track your trip budget.
- Click Export PDF to generate a shareable itinerary to share with family or keep as a printable backup.
